In 2014, Weplan has supported Lampedusa in bidding for the World Youth Sailing Championships (WYSC) 2018, organised by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).
The Lampedusa WYSC 2018 project was based on the idea to reconnect metaphorically the island to the surrounding sea, which has been the cause of grief and mourning: a corner of the Mediterranean that needs to be re-identified as a place of life and prosperity through sport.
